James Scarlett-Streatfeild : ウィキペディア英語版 | James Scarlett-Streatfeild
Air Vice Marshal James Rowland Scarlett-Streatfeild (17 February 1909 – 10 May 1945), was a senior commander in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War killed in an air crash as he travelled to accept the surrender of German forces in Norway. ==Early life== James Rowland Scarlett was born at Southsea, Hampshire one of the sons of Air Vice Marshal Francis Rowland Scarlett CB DSO and Dora Scarlett (née Blakiston-Houston). His father was an early naval aviator and his grandfather had been colonel of the 5th Dragoon Guards. He was a member of the Streatfeild family of Rossington Hall, Bawtry,〔Census of England and Wales, 1911. Rossington Hall, Bawtry, Yorkshire〕 and added the Streatfeild to his own name in 1939. His name is often miss-spelled even in official documents but the London Gazette announcement regarding his name is clear and does agree with the England & Wales Census of 1911 which is signed by Mr Streatfeild. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission have corrected the spelling in their on-line records and will correct the spelling on his headstone when it is due to be renewed.
